While we are not a direct part of, nor incorporated with the China Youth Development Foundation, we use them as the bridge between the money we raise and the children we help. We have contacts with local administrators in China that help us distribute our money and provide us with follow up reports on the students or other projects (i.e. libraries, schools) that we may sponsor.
Through Hope Night and other fundraising events, we raised over $4000 during our years at Cornell. As an organization (everyone had a say), we decided to sponsor the tuition of over 25 children in Anhui and Guangdong during our first three years in existence. As of the summer of 2008, thanks to the efforts of our advisor, Frances Yufen Lee Mehta (aka Lee Laoshi), Project Hope is proud to make a new collaboration with officials of Gansu Province in distributing the same kind of aid to 26 disadvantaged students of Wanhe Village, committing enough funds to help them finish primary school. We have currently sponsored the oldest children.
There is much work remaining to be done however. There remains 20 children who remain in-need. With your help, we can sponsor every needy child in Wanhe village!
