To become a Cornell ASME member, start off by coming to a general body meeting – schedule posted on the events page. E-mail Aneil Hegde to get on the listserve so you can keep up-to-date with ASME activities.
Executive Board Biographies:
Aneil Hegde
Aneil is a senior in the School of Mechanical Engineering, where he is pursuing a degree in mechanial engineering as well as a minor in engineering management. He has had the opportunity to participate on a project team as well as on a co-op, and has greatly enjoyed being a mechanical engineer at Cornell. In addition to spending ridiculous amounts of time in Upson, Aneil enjoys getting outside and playing sports of all kinds. As president of ASME, he is committed to providing mechanical engineers with a variety of opportunities to further their own goals, and to get to know others within the mechanical engineering community. If you have any ideas about bringing new and exciting opportunities to mechanical engineers, whether professionally, academically, or socially, he wants to hear about them!
Nachiket (Nachi) Krishnamurti
Nachiket Krishnamurti is a senior from Pittsburgh, PA. He was born in India but has also lived in Saint Paul, MN for many years. Within the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Nachiket is very involved in the Cornell 100+ MPG project team. While on the team, he as worked on the car’s frame and chassis as well as its aerodynamic design, and has become adept with the FLUENT, as software package for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). This past summer, he gained experience in the nuclear energy industry with an Internship at Westinghouse Electric Company in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition, he is also pursuing a minor in Operations Research and Engineering. On campus, Nachiket is also involved in the Engineering Ambassadors, and is a member of Cornell Big Red Raas, a competitive Indian dance troupe. In his spare time, Nachiket enjoys having a good time with his friends and playing tennis and basketball.
Chris Culver
I was born in Colorado on a wonderful spring day in April with the name Richard Christopher Culver. I lived there up until college and then came to Ithaca to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain. And the feel of the ocean and the taste of Champagne. Other than that, I enjoy the snow and everything that has to do with the snow and any time I can get outdoors and be active, I take the chance.
Alex Miner
Alex is a junior in MAE. He is one of the two corporate relation chairs for ASME. His academic interests include biomechanics and robotics. In his free time he enjoys weight lifting and chess. After graduation, he plans on joining the peace corps and going into the engineering field for a job after that.
Theresa (Terry) Galie
Born and raised in Cherry Hill, NJ, outside of Philadelphia (Go Flyers!), I am a senior in Mechanical Engineering and minoring in Biomedical Engineering. I am the youngest of four and enjoy playing field hockey, basketball, and most sports.
I participated in the co-op program working for Procter and Gamble in their Baby Care department (Go Pampers!!). I will be working for them full time in Cincinnati, Ohio starting in June! This past fall, I was simulating adhesive in our glue nozzles using Fluent and COMSOL.
Be sure to come to our social events this year and let me know any suggestions!!
Rohini Rao
Rohini is the secretary of ASME. She is a senior MechE and is minoring in biomedical engineering.
At Cornell, she has been involved with the Society of Women Engineers as a corporate relations liaison, was a CUEmpower peer mentor, participates in various Public Service Center outreach activities, and is a peer advisor. This semester, she is involved with the club Cover Africa and is going to Ghana over winter break to distribute bed nets for malaria prevention.
Her other interests include playing tennis, listening to music, doing daily crossword puzzles, and trying to figure out what she should do after she graduates.
Jonathan Chiang
Jonathan is a senior in Mechanical Engineering. His interests lie in structural and computational mechanics. Jonathan contributes to the Cornell engineering community by working as an AEW facilitator for MATH 1920. He has completed the co-op program at Space Systems/Loral, where he analyzed and tested commercial satellites. Outside of classes, Jonathan enjoys solving Rubik’s cubes, learning trivia, and doing other geeky stuff.
