Deleveraging in the Eurozone by Stephen Kinsella & Vincent O'Sullivan
"The capital shortfall at EU banks is 8% higher than originally thought, according to the latest assessment from the European Banking Authority. This column examines the evolution of loan-to-deposit ratios in big European banks. It says banks have been buying back their debt securities, hoarding profits, limiting bonuses, and deleveraging. Welcome to Spring 2012!
Hello everyone! CES has a great semester planned! So far we have Professor Talks, Professor Lunches, a new blog, and many other endeavors planned. Check out the events page for more information as the events are posted.
With regards to the e-board, three positions will become vacant at the close of this semester. If you are interested in running for office, we highly suggest active participation in our events. Also, we are recruiting blog writers and are working closely with the Visible Hand staff for the upcoming issue. For more information and updates come to our first General Body Meeting on Thursaday February 9th 2012.

Welcome to Fall 2011
We welcome back old and new members to what promises to be an exciting semester for CES and its research publication, the Visible Hand.
Come see us at ClubFest this Sunday at Barton Hall. If you can't see us during Clubfest, you can always join our list-serv by reading the instructions in the "About" tab at the top. This semester, we will be holding everything from guest lectures to internship panels to social events.
Additionally, we are always looking for research contributions, both from Cornell and from other universities, so let us know your ideas.

End of Spring 2011 Semester
We would like to thank all of you for making this a successful semester for CES. As a club, we are continually maturing and working to better the study of Economics at Cornell. Right now, we are looking for new people to join us on our E-Board, and more information will follow through our list-serv emails. So please make sure you are on the list.
Additionally, we will be having our Visible Hand Journal release party towards the end of April, stay tuned for the update on this. Everyone interested
is more than welcome to attend, and these are usually a great way to meet similarly minded individuals. Again Thanks, Anton.

We are co-hosting an event with Cornell Global China Connection this Thursday 11/5 at 5PM in Malott 253. Our speaker's name is Josh Tetrick and he is a social entrepreneur. Here's his bio:
Josh - a social entrepreneur, writer, and speaker - has led a United Nations business initiative in Kenya, worked for both former President Clinton and the president of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, and taught street children as a Fulbright Scholar in Nigeria and South Africa. Josh is a proud graduate of Cornell University and the University of Michigan Law School.
