1920s Night!

roaring20s

We're having our last theme dance of the semester this Friday! The costume & music theme is the 1920s. Many of the swing dances, including the the 20s Charleston, Black Bottom, and Peabody, originated in this freewheeling decade of Jazz and bootleg licquor.

Style tips

  • Hats can go a long way in making an outfit. Evolution has some vintagy hats.
  • You can look at production stills or trailers from "Changeling" (2008) for classy period ideas.
  • Halloween clearance: flapper or gangster costume

Cost: $5 includes admission & snacks. Free if you're enrolled in our classes.

Swing Dance with the Hot Foot Club!

The Ithaca Swing Dance Network and the Cornell Swing Dance Club are proud to present a swing dance featuring the Hot Foot Club.

A favorite of the Central New York swing scene, Hotfoot Club is a 5-piece band that serves up impeccably arranged swing and rhythm and blues from the 1930s through the 1950s, played by some of the area's most accomplished musicians.

The Memorial Room has a long tradition of hosting swing dances in in both the modern and big band eras: many famous big bands of the 1930s, including the Glenn Miller Orchestra, played for Cornell dances there.

Admission is $8 for students/seniors, $10 general.

Vintage Hawaiian Night

The Cornell Swing Dance Club cordially invites you to a night of fine dancing, music de D-J, and hors d'oeuvre in the lovely Willard Straight Hall 5th floor lounge.

The optional attire is Hawaiian, beach, or naval vintage.

This salon is quite agreeable for dancing and relaxation. The dance floor is delightful, the windows offer a lovely view of Ho Plaza, and the furniture is simply luxurious.

A mere $5 yields a lesson, dance, and light refreshments. There is no charge for those students participating in our Tuesday evening practicum in the "Lindy Hop."
