I usually hate when movie directors decide they can change things when they adapt a book or graphic novel to film. But in this case, all the changes are actually really good. I'd say pretty much everything about this movie is really good, actually. The general aesthetic and editing is quite nice overall, and the casting was good as well. My only real problem with this movie is its length - 3 hours, that's Lord of the Rings-type long. But if you've got 3 hours to spare, definitely watch this.

This was simultaneously one of the worst and most enjoyable to watch films I've ever seen. On the one hand, it was horrendous and I couldn't take anything that happened seriously. The absolute butchering of Norse mythology (everything from the ludicrous costuming to the set to the horrific pronunciation of Old Norse words) was painful to the extreme, especially if you're familiar with the real stories. But at the same time, it was hilarious to watch, partly because it took itself so seriously. Very little of it was supposed to be funny, but an awful lot of it was. So if you're in need of a good laugh, go see it, but don't expect them to represent the Norse gods in any accurate fashion or be able to pronounce "Mjöllnir".
