It’s about that time of year - time to polish up your resumes, organize your padfolio, and land that dream internship. Have some questions? Want some advice? We’re here for you. Our next general body meeting on Tuesday, 11/20 will feature three members of the ISSA executive board who will share their experiences with you and try to answer any questions you may have.
Alex Ainslie is a sophomore in the college of Arts and Sciences. He spent this past summer in Mountain View interning at Google as a User Experience Researcher focused on Google Maps for Mobile, Mobile Gmail and Websearch. As a member of the HCI group and CEmCom he thinks about mobile social computing and refinement placement in search results (with eye tracking) among other things. He can usually be found practicing piano in Lincoln, eating at Little Thai House or playing with his new arduino and proximity sensor at his desk in the HCI lab.
Ben Cole is the President of the ISSA and spent this past summer interning at Google. He is currently a sophomore in CALS, doing research with Professor Geri Gay with the Human-Computer Interaction Group. His role at Google was User Experience Researcher with the Google Docs team. Ben blogged about his Google experience here.
Jenn Vargas is currently a junior in A&S. She is the ISSA Webmaster and spent her summer working at Yahoo! doing User Experience Design for the Yahoo! Maps and Local group. Her main interest lies in social media (community sites, online collaboration, etc) and she was lucky enough to declare her major on the day Social Systems became accepted as a primary track. Jenn’s blog about her summer at Yahoo! is here.
