Welcome to JUSA!

Welcome to the Japan - United States Association (JUSA) at Cornell University!

The purpose of JUSA is to provide a venue for recognition and celebration of the Japanese culture and of the Japan - United States relations. In order to attain these goals, JUSA strives to:

1. Provide information regarding the Japanese culture and Japan - United States relations to the general populace

2. Promote interaction amongst Cornell students of all background through the promotion of the aforementioned topics

3. Offer support and resources for the Japanese, Japanese - American, and Japanese interest community at Cornell University

Upcoming Events

General Body Meeting

  • General body meetings will resume in the Fall of 2012! We hope to see you all at our first meeting on August 28, 2012!
  • When: Every Tuesday at 5pm (Unless otherwise notified)
  • Where: Rockefeller Hall RM 105

Club Fest

  • When: August 25, 2012
  • Where: Barton Hall

Come see us at our booth during Club Fest! We will have information about what we do as a cultural organization on campus and you will get to meet our executive board!

Ennichi

  • When: September 8, 2012
  • Where: Appel Commons (Right outside of Appel)
  • What: Come join us for a night of GAMES, PERFORMANCES, and FOOD!
  • Cost: $0.50 each ticket, $5.00 for 11. Tickets will be purchasable at the event!
  • Depending on the item, food and games will range between 1-3 tickets each

Come join us at our annual fall festival, Ennichi! There will be performances, games, and japanese food! If you want to be involved in JUSA (both volunteering and as a general body member), please contact us at cu.jusa@gmail.com

Cornell JUSA will be hosting the East Coast Japan America League next spring!

The East Coast Japan America League (ECJAL) is an annual conference held in the United States which brings together various Japanese associations and students from universities along the east coast for a day of workshops, speakers, and performances. Cornell's JUSA will be hosting the next ECJAL in the spring of 2013! If you are in a student organization at a university that is interested in participating, please contact us at cu.jusa@gmail.com!

More information regarding the date and registration for ECJAL will be posted over the summer. If you would like to be updated with information via e-mail, please do not hesitate to contact us!

JUSA Culture Show 2012: The Way

Japan-United States Association (JUSA) is hosting its annual culture show!

The show will include entertainment, food, and a whole lot of fun! This year's show will focus on exploring "the way" (dou) of living all aspects of life. It's not as serious as you think! We'll be sure to keep you smiling the entire night!

Sit back, relax, and enjoy a delicious dinner bento (Japanese-style boxed meals) that's included with admission. A vegetarian option is also available.

Tickets are $5 presale or $8 at the door. Purchase your ticket from any JUSA eboard member.

Japan's Earthquake and Tsunami One Year Later

On March 11th at 1:00pm and March 12th at 12:45pm, there will be a conference held on the one-year anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan. The conference will address the many issues raised by the natural and nuclear distasters, their aftermath, and their surrounding histories. Diverse experts will explore these questions in terms of economics, business, law, disaster response, religion, social activism, and history. Curry Night Was a Great Success!

Thank you to everyone who came out to Curry Night! More than 40 people showed up to enjoy delicious curry! If you missed it, we hope you come to future JUSA events!

Sushi Night 2011: Sushilization is Almost Here!

Sushi Night is coming up on December 3rd (That's this Saturday!). Come join us at Okenshields in Willard Straight Hall from 9pm to 1am and enjoy free sushi and fun games! The best part of Sushi Night is that everything will be free! If you want to eat great sushi from different cultures around the world (thanks to various student groups at Cornell University listed below), then you should definitely come check out Sushi Night. And bring friends!
