Maestro Christopher Barbeau of Ring of Steel Action Theater, our mothership in Michigan, will be visiting this weekend. Consequently, we’re holding practices on Saturday March 3rd from 10 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm, and Sunday March 4th from 10 am to 12 pm, all in Risley’s Great Hall. If you haven’t made it to a practice yet, this will be a great introduction; if you’re already a club member, bring a friend! This (usually) semesterly visit is a great time for refining skills, learning new techniques, and generally having fun.
If you haven’t attended one of our practices before, please come to the 10 am practice on Saturday, and wear clothing you can move in.

Last weekend, Ring of Steel: Ithaca kicked off the year with a work party in the Risley TV room. Old and new members polished the summer’s rust off our swords and shields and watched The Court Jester, a perennial Ringer favorite and an example of vaudeville fencing at its best. Now our swords are shiny again and we’re all excited for the coming semester!

If anyone missed the first Ring of Steel intro practice for whatever reason (e.g. Labor Day), we are holding another this Thursday, September 9 in the Risley Great Hall from 8-10 pm. Practices will be held regularly in the Risley Great Hall from 8:00-10:00pm Thursdays and 2:00-4:00pm Saturdays.
