I am a senior in the Hotel School. When I'm not cooking, I like collecting stamps and pretending to book tickets for vacations I never plan on taking. Sometimes, my parents let me go on those vacations. My most recent escapade was to NJ's famed Oak Tree road. Famous for its Indian shopping and samosas, it is without a doubt the best time I had in my life. At school, I admit my biggest pet peeve is my "friends" stealing basic bathroom necessities-- specifically toilet paper. To that end, I have hoarded in my room 50 rolls of toilet paper to be allocated only to my apartment mates on a weekly basis. If a roll runs out before the week's end...
Parminder Kaur
Communications Director
pk225@cornell.edu
Hi! I am Parminder and an DEA(Design and Environmental Analysis) major. A lot of people call me Par, which was mainly for my American friends and teachers who couldn't pronounce my name but my Indian friends tend to call me Par as well. I am communications director and I usually do design oriented work in SI. Most of the time I am stressing and when not I am slacking off.

I hope to have fun and help other people have fun through various SI events. When I have a lot of free time, I eat ice cream because I am a slow ice cream eater and that way I can waste time.

I love leading an organization that unites people with my heritage on this campus. It’s really nice to see people have fun at Garba and Diwali Show and know that I contributed to making that happen. I don’t really dance, so I am a big fan of other events such as 3 on 3 basketball or Iron Chef competitions. I am taking it on as a personal challenge to beat defending champions Nakul Paul and Nimil Sood this year at SI Iron Chef. I have come a long way since I was webmaster of SI, when I once proposed that our domain should be www.si.com, only to soon realize that Sports Illustrated had us beat. All in all, I hope to do great things for SI this year.

Sona Akkar
Cultural Show Coordinator
spa9@cornell.edu
Ever since the dawn of society, Man has been on a constant mission, a perpetual struggle towards perfection. In this microcosmic analog of human society that is Cornell University, one group on campus has yet already embarked on this journey to the symbiosis of South Asian culture and modern-day tradition. We are the Society for India. We represent the members of the Indian Subcontinent. We strive to reach societal awareness of the Indian culture, to not only help ancient values and customs survive in this foreign land, but to also urge a set of individuals in this voyage to bring hearts and hands together. My name is Sona Akkar and I personally take on this mission, along with my fellow board members, to make the Society for India a forum for expression, a catalyst to awareness, and an oasis of understanding. We hope you enjoy the ride.

I am a senior in the Hotel School from Atlanta, Georgia and I hope to one day open resorts all around the world. I am a huge fan of traveling and I’m fascinated by new places and hotels around the world. I would probably not be able to survive if cereal did not exist on this worldI’m a huge cereal fan and you can always find me having it for either breakfast or dinner. As ex-officio, it is my role to provide support to all of the board members after spending one year as the event coordinator and then last year as President.
