                <description>
                        Greetings!
It's hard to believe that the semester is soon wrapping up and bidding close
to another fine academic year. It's been my pleasure to play a role in
ushering in various SiGMA activities throughout these months, and I
genuinely think that we've made worthwhile strides towards maintaining and
improving the graduate student quality of life in this esteemed department.

Now I'd like to share that pleasure with you. This week we'll be welcoming
nominations for officer positions in SiGMA next year. If you're at all
interested in participating in SiGMA and ensuring its success/survival, let
me encourage you to please seriously consider nominating yourself for an
office. In all honesty, the time and energy requirements are minimal and
the outcomes generate a pleasant sense of accomplishment (which can be
especially appreciated when research results let you down). There are other
benefits as well, including the opportunity to meet other students, develop
leadership skills, and generate extracurricular talking points for a resume
                        or job interview.

                        There are five offices available:
                        President,
                        Vice President,
                        Treasurer,
                        Professional Development Director, and
                        Social Director.

To wrap it up: SiGMA can literally unleash your inner potential and give you
and our department amazing powers and opportunities. Nominate yourself or
your cohorts for an officer position this week. Oh yeah, and there's another
happy hour in the works soon.

Many thanks for your tireless attention,

                        Justin Atchison,
President, Sibley Graduates in Mechanical and Aerospace
