Philanthropy "To
a child, having a volunteer working for them can make all the difference. Kappa Alpha Theta's national philanthropy is
CASA-Court Appointed Special Advocates. This program provides specially
trained community volunteers, appointed by a Family Court Judge, to work on
individual cases of children in foster care. These volunteers are dedicated
to reducing the amount of time a child spends in foster care by facilitating
the child's placement in a permanent home. As reports of abuse and neglect
keep crowding court dockets, more children have become "lost" in
the foster care system. CASA programs provide professional staff and trained
volunteers to assist the Family Court judge to investigate, implement, and
monitor permanency plans for foster children and their families involved in
Family Court proceedings.
