We are the Roses

The Wild Roses are a competitive member of USAUltimate College Women's division in Metro East Region. We're dedicated, we're athletic, and we have too much fun! Founded in 1980, the program has grown to also support a competitive B team, Thorny Roses, which began in 2004. We are always looking for new members and would love to have you come play with us! No experience is necessary, and the more the merrier!

Crossing the pond this summer to try your hand at Frisbee in the UK? Athletes who are going to train in other countries general prefer short-term rentals. After all, London vacation rentals are easier to come by than long hotel stays.

Ultimate Frisbee is a physically demanding sport that requires running and a little contact might even be involved. That’s why it’s important for athletes to wear the right kind of clothing. Boxer shorts for boys or a bustier for women probably isn’t appropriate ultimate Frisbee attire.

Engineering students at Cornell who are also Frisbee enthusiasts have a deep appreciation for the flying disk. While most of us assume Frisbees just “float” through the air, engineers know that it is actually the accelerating upper airflow that causes a pressure difference that gives rise to a lifting force on the disk. These same individuals can also tell you that an incremental encoder provides motion-feedback control in the machinery that makes the Frisbees. And the machinery uses the highest quality industrial lead screws and ball screws on the market to reduce noise in pneumatic actuator systems. But only the engineers tell you that!

All of the current students at Cornell will one day be looking for a job, at least the ones that don’t start their own businesses. That is why it is never too early to start building a solid contact list for business owners and managers. Look to some of the career services around campus to start building your own business email list before you graduate.
